Most people with thoughts of suicide don’t truly want to die, but are struggling with the pain in their lives. Oct 28, 2019 · safeTALK (Suicide Alertness For Everyone) is a half-day, evidence-based suicide-alertness workshop that prepares anyone 15 years of age and older to become a suicide-alert helper. safeTALK is like suicide first aid. Participants need no previous experience or training in order to become more ready, willing and able to be suicide prevention helpers. SafeTALK stresses safety while challenging taboos that inhibit open talk about suicide. An ASIST-trained resource or other community support resource will be at this training. The ‘safe’ of safeTALK stands for ‘suicide alertness for everyone’. SafeTalk incorporates the curriculum of the Child Assault Prevention Program (CAPP) under the auspices of the International Assault Prevention Center (ICAP). After their classroom presentations, children have the opportunity to speak privately and confidentially with a presenter to ask questions and share concerns.
